Vampire Punk
Last week we ended up having that lunch conversation on the climate crisis and the probability we will experience the end of the world (Yeah I know, too much for an easy lunch convo, right?)
When three years ago I became more aware about the environment and the climate crisis, I decided to shift my diet to a plant based one and I reduce my consumption of goods in general. Although this awareness is for good, it made me come up with that negative argument of “Oh we are terrible as human beings and we all are gonna die” way too easily in every conversation that covers not just the climate, but the future.
Thinking that the end is near and there’s nothing to do it’s easy, it gives us comfort not to think about better ways of being and living, and when I was talking to Jody about this a couple days ago, I comprehended how attached I was to this hopeless vision that doesn’t marry at all with the values and ideas I want to live by
.
I’ve always wanted to live forever, like a vampire. I’ve always wanted to create. I’ve always believed that, If we always stick to the idea that “everything has been done already” we wouldn’t have evolved. I believe in movement. I believe in good. I believe that, in an era when everyone is so catastrophic, to celebrate life and envision possibility, is the most punk thing to do.
Possibility starts by enabling the idea on your mind.
Then go and make that blood pump.
